Established in October 1945 to pursue "scientific and technical research aimed at the use of atomic energy in various fields of science, industry, and national defense," the CEA works to ensure the scientific, technological, and industrial sovereignty of France and Europe by addressing the major challenges of this century: energy and the environment, climate, health, defense and security, and digital technology.
In addressing these issues, the CEA actively contributes to providing the solutions sought by public authorities, industry, and the general public, guided by a strategic roadmap built on three pillars - energy and climate transition, digital technology, and health - all underpinned by a foundation of fundamental research.
