Description
Stéphane Chapuliot obtained his PhD, devoted to the plastic buckling of reinforced shells, from Paris University. He then started his career as a Research engineer in Fracture Mechanics (modelling and testing) at the CEA-Saclay (France) and became expert and head of the Structural Integrity and Standards lab. He then moved to Framatome in 2012 where he worked as a fellow expert in support of the EPR-FA3 and HPC projects, and in support of EDF existing plants. Finally in 2020, he moved to EDF where he continues his Fracture Mechanics research and conducts expertise missions, mainly in support of the life extension of the existing plants.
His present work aims at developing new approaches for assessing the harmfulness of crack-like defects or justifying existing approaches and criteria. It covers all related R&D areas, namely 1) Modeling at both the specimen and structural scales, 2) Experimental testing, 3) Development of numerical, analytical, and semi-analytical fracture assessment approaches and 4) standardization and code development. Stéphane published over 200 papers in scientific journals and conference proceedings (primarily SMiRT and PVP).
